Measure the noise around you!
With the noise indicator you can discover how much noise you have around you. Measure the noise at work, in the car and at the football game. With a simple touch you will get:
- A decibel meter that measures the sound level in real time.
- A summary of the measurements which you can name and save for later.
- Brief information about noise and requirements values for the sound level.
- Contact information to the Swedish Work Environment Authority.
How does the app work?
Start decibel meter by pressing the button on the first tab. The measurement continues until you press the button again. This displays an average value and a maximum value of the measurement. You can then choose to name the measurement and save it or share it. We have chosen to remove the so-called noise calculator because it was not fully reliable. If you want to figure out the total exposure for a working day so we refer to https://www.av.se/en/health-and-safety/noise/
The app also contains information about the noise and requirement values, links to the Swedish Work Environment Authority's website.
Decibel Meter app is tested with the following phone models:
iPhone 6 Plus
The application is not as reliable as a professional noise meter, but it gives approximate values. Note that most mobile phones have microphones that are designed for a frequency range corresponding to the human voice. Because of limitations in phones the sound level of sound dominated by low frequencies (below 200 Hz) be underestimated.
If you want to take part of the test results from the moment of calibration of the various phone models you find it here, https://www.av.se/en/noisemeter/
Noise Meter does not match international or European standard for sound level meters.
The idea is to get an indication of the noise level around you. If you experience bothersome noise levels at your workplace, please contact primarily your employer or your occupational health services.
The noise meter is published by the Swedish Work Environment Authority.
